Jaden Harris, OzGREEN Board Member and Youth Leading the World Facilitator, sets off on his journey to the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Paris today as part of the youth delegation. Send a clear message of support to Jaden and the Australian youth delegation by signing our petition below.
“It is clear that the time to act is now” said Jaden. “We call on our Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and world leaders to act decisively and effectively to stem the tide of global warming NOW. There is a tiny window for action remaining, before it becomes too costly and too late. The elders of the world have a deep obligation to the youth of the world and those yet to be born”.
Jaden participated in OzGREEN’s Youth Leading the World program in 2009, as a 14 year old. He was deeply inspired and decided to join with friends to act and set the Sydney Youth Climate Action Network. SYCAN organised youth green events and participated in community events to raise awareness about action for climate change. Jaden was winner of the NSW/ACT Young Achiever of the Year 2015.
Youth Climate Petition
Malcolm Turnbull, Prime Minister of Australia
The youth of the world and those yet to be born rely on the elders of today to act to protect their future. Australia has an important role to play in mitigating the impacts of climate change and unsustainable ways of living.
We call on the Australian Government to provide visionary leadership in the upcoming Climate Summit in Paris and going forward after these talks.
We call on the Australian Government to encourage and support youth as key partners in tackling these challenges, as change-makers unleashing their own bright ideas.
