We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Country on which we walk, the Gumbaynggirr people of the Gumbaynggirr nation. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
Bellingen Shire Bushwalks provides opportunities for tourists and community to explore and appreciate Bellingen Shire's beautiful natural environment. We offer a variety of walks between 4 and 10 kilometres long that are suitable for most levels of fitness.
Most of our walks are along NSW Forest Corporation fire trails and are graded either 3 or 4 using the Australian Walking Track Grading System. Occasionally we also walk through National Parks, Crown Lands and on private property when permission is granted.
As a not for profit organisation, OzGREEN relies on fundraising to fulfill its purpose of empowering people to love and protect the environment.
Our pricing for Bellingen Shire Bushwalks is:
- Individuals $10
- Families (2A 2C) $25
All funds raised from our walks will be used for local environmental activities, programs and events. We're currently raising funds to train our Bellingen Riverwatch citizen scientists to identify and monitor macro-invertebrate (waterbugs) in the Bellinger and Kalang rivers. Macro-invertebrate are a really important food source for the Critically Endangered Bellinger River Snapping Turtle and many other vulnerable species. The number and variety of macro invertebrate across our catchment are a good indicator of whether or not our rivers are healthy.
If we have to cancel our walks because of bad weather or if you are unable to attend because something comes up we will give you a credit for a future walk.
To book, we require all participants to submit a registration form and process their payment prior to the walk. If you don't have access to a computer, please call 02 5615 8108 and we will register you manually. Walks are capped at 15 people to ensure everyone has a good experience.
