Try something new to help reduce waste.
Some easy ways to help :

How to compost :
Choose a dry and shady site.
Add brown and green materials, equal amounts.
Water in, moist but not wet.
Turn the pile regularly.

Fill a glass jar with citrus peels.
Cover with white vinegar.
Let the peels infuse in the vinegar for four weeks with the lid on.
Strain the mixture and compost the peels.
Add to a spray bottle.
Use to clean your home! (Patch test before use).
