STEM Conference for Regional Girls 2027

Giving regional girls something many have never had before… the chance to see, try and imagine themselves in STEM

Friday 4 June 2027 Coffs Harbour

A full-day STEM experience for 135 Year 8 girls and non-binary students from across the Mid North Coast.

Meet women in STEM. Explore possibilities. Imagine your future.

Potential is everywhere. Access isn't.

Regional girls are curious, capable and full of ideas.

But they don't always have the same opportunities to meet people working in STEM, experience STEM beyond the classroom or discover the careers and pathways that could be open to them.

For many of the students who joined us in 2026, this Conference was a first.

93%

attended their first STEM event outside school.

81%

met a STEM professional for the first time.

These are not young people who lack potential.

They lack access.

And that’s something we can change.

“It changed my opinion and my dream”

- Student, 2025 Conference for Regional Girls

One day can change what feels possible.

Year 8 is an important time.

Students are beginning to form ideas about what they're good at, which subjects they might choose and what their future could look like.

The STEM Conference for Regional Girls puts possibility right in front of them.

Students don't just hear about STEM.

They experience it.

Students experiment, build, investigate, ask questions and solve problems. They sit down with women working in STEM and hear how their careers really began.

They discover pathways through university, TAFE, apprenticeships, trades and industries.

Most importantly, they get the chance to imagine themselves there too.

This events helps shift the question from:

“Is STEM for someone like me?”

to

“I belong here. I can do this.”

What happens on the day?

On 4 June 2027, OzGREEN will bring together 135 Year 8 girls and non-binary students from nine regional Mid North Coast schools with 70 STEM professionals, mentors and industry representatives.

Schools will be selected with a focus on communities experiencing socio-educational disadvantage and high First Nations enrolments.

Across the day, students will move through hands-on STEM workshops, an interactive STEM Showcase and small-group Meet-a-Mentor conversations, while discovering pathways into science, technology, engineering, maths, health, environment, trades and emerging industries.

With partner support, we aim to keep the conference free for every student.

It works.

We launched the STEM Conference for Regional Girls in 2025 and significantly expanded the program in 2026.

These outcomes are why we want to do it again.

Help us make 2027 happen.

A regional event of this scale only happens because organisations choose to stand behind it.

When you sponsor the STEM Conference for Regional Girls, you're opening a door.

Your support can:

  • keep the Conference free for students and schools, including those facing greater disadvantage

  • help regional students get there by supporting transport and participation costs

  • provide high-quality hands-on STEM activities, equipment and resources

  • put women working in STEM directly in the room with young people

  • introduce students to careers and pathways they may never have encountered before

  • help regional girls build the confidence to see STEM - and themselves - differently.

Bring your people into the experience.

We want our partnerships to be more than financial.

Your scientists, engineers, technicians, environmental professionals, health professionals, data specialists, tradespeople and other STEM employees can become part of the day.

They might mentor a small group of students. Share the story of how they found their career. Bring a practical STEM challenge to the Showcase. Talk about a job students didn't know existed. Or simply answer the question:

“What is it actually like to do what you do?”

For a young person who has never met someone working in STEM before, that conversation can matter enormously.

A partnership with real regional impact.

Supporting the STEM Conference for Regional Girls is an opportunity to invest in regional young people, gender equity, education and the future STEM workforce at the same time.

It can also help your organisation build meaningful connections with schools, educators, universities, TAFE, community organisations and STEM professionals across the Mid North Coast.

And your people get to see the impact firsthand.

Not years later.

In the room. On the day.

Be part of what happens next.

We are currently seeking organisations to help us deliver the next STEM Conference for Regional Girls through financial sponsorship, in-kind support and employee involvement.

Could your organisation help a regional girl see where STEM could take her?
